Description: This course explores evidence-based caregiver coaching strategies for introducing AAC. Participants learn how adult learning theory influences caregiver engagement, how to identify stages of caregiver buy-in, and how these stages inform coaching decisions. Practical strategies are shared for implementing AAC coaching across home, school, and clinical environments to support successful AAC adoption.

Presenters:

Venita Litvack, M.A, CCC-SLP (SHE/HER)
Venita is an Assistive Technology (AT) Consultant in south Florida. She has a passion for using AAC, AT, and literacy to support individuals with complex communication needs, autism, and other disabilities. Venita has delivered poster presentations on several topics related to AAC at ASHA and co-presented several ASHA CEU accredited courses. Venita co-authored two articles published in ASHA Leader’s online publication, as well as the Lou Knows What to Do book series published by Boys Town Press. Recently, Venita started utilizing the power of social media to empower and motivate educators across the country through the Speechie Side Up podcast, blog, Instagram account, and YouTube channel.

Daj Mitchell, M.S., CCC-SLP (SHE/HER)
Daj Mitchell, M.S., CCC-SLP, is a licensed speech-language pathologist and two-time recipient of the ASHA ACE Award. She works part-time as a school-based SLP and is the owner of a private practice specializing in speech, literacy, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Daj is also the host of the Co-Treat Corner podcast, which highlights collaboration across healthcare disciplines. She is a national presenter on neurodiversity-affirming care, artificial intelligence in speech-language pathology, AAC implementation, and collaborative practice. Daj is based in Central Illinois.
