Description: This session discussed the topic of mindfulness and how SLPs can use self-care techniques in their lives. This session also explored how to identify the root causes of stress, when SLPs may encounter high-stress circumstances, and ways to implement mindfulness in each day.

Who This Course Is Good For:

  • Any ASHA member, CCC holder, or other professional that is licensed or credentialed to practice speech-language pathology (SLP) or audiology or preparing to earn ASHA CEUs.
  • Any speech-language pathologist (SLP) who wants to learn more about mindfulness and meditation.
  • A professional who works with pediatric to adult clients.

Who This Course Isn’t Good For:

  • Any professional who is not familiar with the terms meditation and mindfullness.
  • Any professional that does not currently work with any school-age to adult clients or plan to in the near future.

Presenters:

Venita Litvack, M.A, CCC-SLP

Venita is an Assistive Technology (AT) Consultant in south Florida. She has a passion for using AAC, AT, and literacy to support individuals with complex communication needs, autism, and other disabilities. Venita has delivered poster presentations on several topics related to AAC at ASHA and co-presented several ASHA CEU accredited courses. Venita co-authored two articles published in ASHA Leader’s online publication, as well as the Lou Knows What to Do book series published by Boys Town Press. Recently, Venita started utilizing the power of social media to empower and motivate educators across the country through the Speechie Side Up podcast, blog, Instagram account, and YouTube channel.

JESSI ANDRICKS, M.S, CCC-SLP

Jessi Andricks is a trained Integrative Health Coach and Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher, focusing on Stress Management for SLPs. She presented at ASHA Schools Connect and ASHA Convention Poster, as well as state speech pathology association conventions on the topics of stress management and burnout prevention for SLPs. Jessi has written for the ASHA Leader Live and NSSLHA Blog, as well as created several CEU courses and been interviewed in several Speech-related Podcasts. She also hosts the SLP Stress Management Podcast and runs the website, JessiAndricks.com, where she has programs and resources to help SLPs reduce stress, burn out and overwhelm, including the online course “SLP Stress Management”
